Letters to the Editor
Tax reform doesn't cut services-Kingman Daily Miner Editor: Now that Arizona Tax Revolt seems to be coming to a head again, I would like to reiterate comments I made earlier. Having lived in California for many years and benefited greatly from Proposition 13, which was a savior to the citizens of California, I want to point out the following: The politicians loudly proclaimed that police departments would be cut way back, fire protection would be practically nil, public libraries would close, trash collection would be eliminated, etc., etc. As a matter of fact, none of these things occurred! The politicians were forced to learn to live within the budget rather than just "tax and spend," which was the prevailing practice. As a matter of fact, taxes were reduced below those current at the time, and future increases were limited to a small annual percentage. Do I need to say more? Robert J. Ferm Kingman
