Arizona Tax Revolt

Arizona property taxpayers realize that we can no longer live under the present Arizona property tax system.

Arizona's property tax system is the most complicated in all 50 states. But the root of all its problems is that the authors wrote our so-called "constitutional protections" not to benefit the property owners/taxpayers but simply to assure the government's ability to tax property in many cases without limit.

Property valuations have been climbing by double digits for the past several years, as have our skyrocketing property taxes. This has caused many foreclosures, forced fixed-income property owners and middle-class people to sell and leave the state or risk losing everything in a tax sale.

The situation is getting worse. This also has caused people not to move to Arizona. Our housing industry is at a standstill and it is not going to get better until we correct this problem.

The Arizona tax revolt measure is a constitutional amendment that establishes budgetary limits for all taxing entities. Cutting budgets and reducing government spending will reduce taxes. Any other schemes just shift the high tax burden onto other property owners.

Those with greater taxes will see the greatest reductions, but every property owner will benefit significantly. To get the full perspective of the Arizona tax revolt measure, you can go to the website: arizonataxrevolt.org.

We need 230,047 signatures state wide by July 2008 to put this measure on the November 2008 ballot.

Let us stop these huge property tax increases. Our three elected legislators from District 1 do not want this measure on the November ballot. Yavapai County Assessor Victor Hambrick also is against this measure. So sign those petitions. We also can use donations. Contact your local coordinator.
