CUT THE CORD TO GOVERNMENT
Arizona Tax Revolt commentary:
Eugene, thank you for an insightful letter that hits the nail on the head. We suggest that the www.ArizonaTaxRevolt.ORG WEB site be included in all letters to the Editor since this is the only way for new volunteers to learn of and join our Tax Revolt.
Marc Goldstone, Chair. I have been in the retail business for over 38 years. When times get lean, we are forced to make cuts. We trim the overhead and get rid of the deadwood. When the city and county need more money because they overspent their budgets, they simply raise taxes. That is why there is this initiative, which we want to put on the ballot. It is a way to limit government and is the only way that we can do it. Brademas is like so many who depend on government services and cries foul whenever there is something that might limit these services. The government should not be in the business of funding the arts, providing transportation for whomever, libraries, subsidized housing, and on-and-on. Its only function is to provide such services as fire prevention and police. We need people to be less dependent on government and more dependent on themselves. Eugene A. Burns, Tucson
