Arizona Tax Revolt commentary:
We hear this often, dramatic valuation increases due to overzealous Assessors. In most cases the fault lies not with the actions of the assessor but with Arizona’s property taxation system which has no taxpayer protections from paper increases in value. The solution is to change the laws.
You can help us do this by joining the Arizona Tax Revolt to lower your property taxes. Our initiative measures go way beyond just lowering taxes. We eliminate the incentive for assessors to raise valuations since doing so will no longer increase government revenues. We accomplish this with two initiatives, the levy and valuation rollback measures. The levy measure limits government revenue increases to 2% plus the tax paid by new growth. It also establishes several voter provisions designed to keep taxes predictable, and affordable.
The valuation measure is far superior to Prop 13 in that it does not revalue property upon sale or transfer so we, our kids and grandkids will all have 2003 valuations or the equivalent. Instead of the worst taxation system in the 50 states we will have the best. And I might add “Happy Taxpayers” and Assessors that are appreciated.
Marc Goldstone, Chair. The maximum is 10 percent increase per tax year. Victor will serve out his term since nobody has come forward to start a recall notice on him. So, property taxpayers of Yavapai County, let's get out and sign those petitions for the statewide Arizona Property Tax Revolt Measures for the November 2008 ballot. This will stop assessors like Victor Hambrick and anybody else with a gold pen. Our property taxes are way too high and this measure will roll back our property taxes. Let's get out and sign those petitions. We need 300,000 signatures to put each of the two measures on the ballot.
